My hands after climbing Denali alone and in the winter. My fingertips froze, thawed and re-froze so many times, forming water and blood blisters. Once drained, created thick layers of dead skin calluses on each flange.

My trusty Explorer II watch helped me keep a strict schedule of when to get up, how long to travel and sleep. In 2006 and 2009, I used this Rolex watch almost exclusively to navigate to the North Pole on skis from Canada.
