Adventure Film Cold Love Premieres Ahead of Polar Climb 1 Launch

Film showcasing explorer Lonnie Dupre’s Arctic expeditions highlights the region’s beauty and impact of climate change; premiere also celebrates Dupre’s upcoming attempt to solo Denali

GRAND MARAIS, Minn. (Nov. 12th, 2014) -- Cold Love, an adventure documentary based primarily on explorer Lonnie Dupre’s Arctic expeditions in Greenland, Alaska, and the North Pole, premiers on Nov. 22, 2014 at 4:30pm at the Outdoor Adventure Expo in Minneapolis. The one-hour film, featuring the dramatic beauty and life-giving forces of our earth’s frozen places, is produced by Emmy award winner Deia Schlosberg in conjunction with Lonnie Dupre and One World Endeavors.

According to Dupre, a 25-year veteran of Arctic explorations, Cold Love is not only a film about the Arctic, it is also an inspirational film about having the tenacity and perseverance needed to reach a difficult goal. It is his latest effort to bring worldwide attention to climate change.

“We produced this film and organized remote expeditions to show the beauty of the Arctic, as well as the impact of climate change and what we have to lose by not addressing it,” said Dupre. “My hope is that Cold Lovewill help people understand how the pole’s snow and ice essentially acts as a thermostat, reflecting the sun’s energy back into space, and keeping our planet cool.”

Shortly after the film’s premiere, Dupre will once again attempt to become the first person to solo summit Alaska’s Denali in January. The climb will begin on December 15th, 2014.

With winter winds regularly exceeding 100 mph, temperatures dropping below -60o F, and just six hours of sunlight a day, January is a formidable time on Denali, North America’s highest mountain (20,320 foot elevation). Only nine expeditions totaling 16 people have ever reached the Denali summit in any winter month, and six deaths occurred during those climbs. In his three previous attempts to solo Denali, Dupre was turned back by bad weather.

The expedition’s major sponsors are PrimaLoft, Granite Gear and Hear in America. Dupre has for years used clothing and sleeping bags insulated with PrimaLoft and backpacks from Granite Gear. Hear in America provides group hearing discount benefits nationwide, and has been a long-time supporter of Dupre’s mission.

Dupre will donate the profits from the sale of his book, Life on Ice: 25 Years of Arctic Exploration between Dec. 15, 2014, and Feb.15, 2015, to The Nature Conservancy’s “Plant a Billion Trees” campaign. Each book sold will enable the planting of 11 trees. Published by Keen Editions, Life on Ice is also available on amazon.com.

Cold Love will be entered in adventure film festivals worldwide and offered on DVD and for digital download in 2015. For more information on Dupre, the video, the expeditions and the book, go to:
